The Knee Institute is the only Michigan accredited facility with the OsteoArthritis Centers of America. OsteoArthritis Centers of America accredited centers specialize in relieving chronic pain associated with Osteoarthritis (OA), Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) – particularly knee pain- and other musculoskeletal conditions. The mission of OsteoArthritis Centers of America is to assist community health care clinics in helping their patients improve their overall quality of life, by enhancing their ability to move. All of the OA treatments are non- surgical and minimally invasive.

Meet the Team

Khurrum T. Pirzada, D.O. – Dr. Pirzada received his medical degree from Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. His background includes Family Medicine and hospital experience.

As a D.O., he takes the whole-person approach with focus on the body’s interconnected system of nerves, muscles and bones. Dr. Pirzada is a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA).

Dr. Pirzada serves as the Medical Director for The Knee Institute.

Gordon J. Korby-Medical Consultant & Medical Educator is a native to the Detroit Metro Area. After graduation from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO., he practiced as a Chiropractic Physician for 10 years in Livonia, Michigan. Gordon Korby then went back to medical school at The Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Mo. After graduation, he completed his internship at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton, Michigan. He was accepted to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Michigan State University-College of Osteopathic Medicine as chief resident. Gordon Korby was Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also a Diplomat in Pain Management and Certified in Medical Acupuncture.

He practiced non-surgical MusculoSkeletal Medicine and Pain Management for 18 years in Columbus, Ohio. Gordon Korby has a special interest in Traditional and Intregrative Orthopaedic Medicine including Regenerative Medicine such as prolotherapy, PRP and Stem Cells. This type of therapy incorporates individualized comprehensive rehabilitation protocols and viscosupplementation. Gordon Korby’s philosophy is to achieve the best outcome so the patient can have optimum function, not to suffer and therefore have a better quality of life.

Gordon has retired from the Practice of Medicine and is now using his vast medical knowledge teaching and sharing his techniques and experience with others in the medical community.

Monica Sanghvi, FNP – Monica Sanghvi received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan and has held a RN license in MI since 1995. She earned a Masters of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University and has been a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner since 2000.

She has worked in a multitude of different medical settings including internal medical clinics, urgent care, OB/GYN office, burn trauma / intensive care, cardiac care, pediatrics and more.

Jane Sulla Nurse Practitioner Certified – Jane received her Bachelor of Arts and Letters Degree with a major in psychology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Michigan. She than received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan. Lastly, Jane went on to obtain a Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Sulla is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has significant experience in the Henry Ford Health System. She speaks fluent Russian.

Lawernce Holloway III, Nurse Practitioner- Certified Lawrence is a graduate of michigan state university with bachelor of science degree in physiology. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the university of michigan-flint. Lawrence then went on to complete his Master of Science degree in nursing also from the university michigan-flint. He has been practicing as a nurse practitioner for over four years. He is responsible for developing many unique treatment plan in his career.

Bejoice Thomas DPT – Bejoice is a graduate of Vinayaka Missions College of Physio Therapy. This college is recognized around the world for having one the toughest and most difficult curriculums in all of India. He also graduated from Utica College, New York with a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. Doctor Thomas has been practicing for over 20 years. He has contributed some very innovative and positive practices to our organization. We are very proud to have him on our team.

Darrell Knick Physical Therapist – We are extremely blessed to have Darrell as a member of our team. Darrell attended Michigan State University and then went on to Wayne State University and obtained a BS in physical therapy. He is board certified in orthopedics and has been a physical therapist for over 35 years. Darrell has been an adjunct instructor at Wayne State University and was director of rehab services at Pontiac General Hospital in the eighties. He was also director of rehabilitation at Bi-County Community Hospital.

Quianna Horton Phlebotomist – Quianna is a trained phlebotomist. She has much experience with the Red Cross drawing hundreds of patients blood. She has the ability to locate small and difficult blood vessels with patients feeling minimal discomfort.

Katherine Backer, Physical Therapy Technician – Katherine is a graduate of Oakland University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science with a concentration in Physical Therapy. She is currently a Physical Therapy Tech. working towards Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Joyce Salvador-Willard RN, MSA, CCM, LNCC, CBIS, MSA Allocator, Administrator – Joyce has certification in Paralegal technology, nurse case management, brain injury specialist, extensive experience in home care, insurance industry, rehabilitation and case management. As a case manager, her role is to collaborate with clients by assessing, facilitating, planning and advocating for health needs on an individual basis. Successful outcomes are achieved with specialized skills and knowledge applied throughout the process. The skills include positive relationship building, effective written/verbal communication, ability to effect change, perform critical analysis, plan and organize effectively and promote client and family autonomy.

Candis Sirbaugh, Account Executive– Candis has over 25 years experience in the medical area. She has a significant amount of knowledge in the medical capital equipment area. She has a strong ability to educate and make presentations to physicians, nurses, and medical professionals. As an account manager Candis has a unique ability to be a problem solver.

Robert Giles, Account Executive – Robert is an ambitious, creative, experienced account executive. He has over 14 years experience in the medical field and has been recognized as a top performer for many years. Robert is a graduate of Ferris State University. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. During his four years at Ferris State, he was awarded a football scholarship.

Jennifer McCoy, Administrative Assistant – Jennifer is currently attending Ultimate Medical Academy. She will be graduating with a specialty in billing and coding. Jennifer is utilizing her newly obtained skills with us. Her past administrator experience has had a significant positive impact for The Knee Institute.

Diane Gilletly, Administrative Assistant - Diane comes with a vast amount of administrative and management experience. She has exceptional communication and networking skills. Diane also excels in such skills as scheduling, team work, and leadership. She has over eight years experience as a supervisor in geriatrics, rehabilitation, and sub-acute.
